The Cempedak Private Island

A paradise island

The Cempedak Private Island is a rough diamond close to Singapore reserved to adults.

Cempedak is a 17-hectare private island 9km off the east coast of Bintan, Indonesia. Located 91km from Singapore, the travel time from Tanah Merah ferry terminal is approximately two and a half hours.

The architecture is dramatic and unique. Bamboo has been used throughout and in ways not seen before. Crescent-shaped curved roofs made from a local grass provide a natural symmetry to the environment and at the same time protection from the elements. With private plunge pools in each villa, huge decks, the guest accommodation is very private and very spacious. This is “simple barefoot luxury” in a sublime natural setting.

Intimate villas with stunning vistas are nestled in the rainforest. They are designed with bamboo and local grass which offers the guests an unforgettable moment of relaxation.

At the restaurant, guests will enjoy a modern cooking featuring Indonesian traditions and International flavors. Plus, all ingredients are grown locally and profits to the nearby farmers.

To add a pinch of adventure to your trip, this tropical paradise allows you to go trekking, rock climbing and mountain in beautiful scenery.

There is a wide variety of water sports on offer including swimming, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, windsurfing, stand-up paddle boarding and sailing (Lasers and catamarans). All equipment is provided free of charge, except for the catamarans and advanced level windsurfing boards. Kite surfing is also a popular activity on nearby Bintan.

With a wide range of birds, a family of otters and endangered species on the island, Cempedak became a member of The Long Run, an association aiming to mix business and sustainability. In addition, a foundation has been created on behalf of the island to provide English and IT education in learning centers. Guests are also welcome to take an educational tour about ecology.
